Nitro the five-year-old pit bull pup was so sweet that when New York’s Brookhaven Animal Shelter took in the stray dog, they figured it wouldn’t be long till he found a forever home.
But that was in August 2016. 981 days after that, the pup was still inside the shelter, sitting in his kennel, longing for a forever home.
The poor pup has no idea why he’s still trapped in the shelter. He doesn’t understand why he can’t be outside, surrounded by love, and he hates being in his kennel. Volunteers and staff try to give him all the affection they can, but he still longs for a home. He cries whenever he has to be in a kennel, but once he’s out of it, he gets all happy and excited.
The pup also loves to smile! He’s always looking happy when playing outdoors, and he’s extremely photogenic. All he really wants is the chance to be outdoors with people he loves. The shelter life is really taking a toll on him!
Nitro loves being outdoors, and he’s extremely active, so he enjoys walks, running around, and playing fetch. Ideally, a good family for him would be able to keep up with his energy needs! He also needs to be the sole pet in a home, preferably without any young kids, either.
This pup has nothing but love to give, and all he wants in return is a forever home and a family that will love him unconditionally. Would you like to take Nitro home? If so, you can reach out to volunteers with the Brookhaven Animal Shelter on Nitro’s special Facebook page here!
