If you are a farmer, or have worked with farm animals on a regular basis, you will know just how difficult it can be to corral and move your animals where you want them to be.
That’s why mankind has, over the centuries, bred all sorts of pups to help us out with this backbreaking work!
While certainly a lot of effort still goes into training these pups, it helps if these pups already have an instinctual drive to herd things. That’s why there’s so many different breeds that were originally meant to be shepherd pups – like the German Shepherd! (Clearly, this is why they have that word in their name.)
You can see those instincts at work here, in this video! This young pup has never seen goats before, and neither has he been taught how to herd. It seems, however, that he doesn’t really need too much training – he’s already herding them naturally, without much prompting!
