Sometimes, you just end up adopting a very special pup. In this case, a pup with albinism! A rare kind of genetic mutation, albinism affects the body’s capability to produce melanin.
As the presence of melanin is responsible for colouring the skin, hair, and eyes, this leaves the affected pup with white fur!
Albinism comes in two different forms – full albino or partial albino. This German Shepherd pup, with her completely white fur and dark eyes and paws, likely is a partial albino! However, as albinism still affects the eyes, it is still likely that she has some vision issues. It will also mean this pup will be sensitive to light as well, as she does not have protection from UV rays that one would normally get from melanin.
That doesn’t stop her from still playing with this Dachshund puppy though! Sprawled out on the carpet in the kitchen, this beautiful albino pup is gentle with her little friend, and is clearly amused by their antics!
