Huskies are a fascinating breed; from the striking contrast in their fur to their affinity for the snow, there’s so much to adore. Buster is a husky from Ontario, Canada who, along with having a stunning coat, loves snow to the point that he gets protective over it.
Canada is known for its continuous snow cover and subsequent freezing temperatures, which is practically paradise for Buster who lives in Ontario, which has a snowy period that can last four and a half months. According to his dad, Michael Kapusty, Buster’s days are spent out in the snow where he plays till he’s called to come back indoors.
His dad notes that he’s not a fan of being called inside and he’d sleep in a pile of snow if given the chance because he just loves the snow that much. This is no surprise as huskies originate from Siberia, which has a continental subarctic climate. They were bred to thrive in cold, snowy conditions which are manifest in their thick double coat which comprises a short and warm undercoat and a long and water-resistant overcoat.
When the first big snowfall of the season fell, Buster was so enthralled that he couldn’t wait to do one of his famous dolphin flips into the snow piles. His excitement quickly dissipated when he noticed his grandpa shoveling the snow off the patio. With his snow under obvious attack, Buster rushed to save the day and sat in the middle of it.
In spite of his efforts, the snow continued to get smaller, and he was left protecting a tiny mound. By the time his grandpa approached him, Buster was seemingly conflicted; he had his dad calling him and his grandpa gesturing on one hand and the snow beneath him to protect; what was he to do?
Fortunately, he admitted defeat after a brief stalemate, however, his defeat was temporary when he realized that there was more snow outside. With newfound excitement, he leaped into the snow and had a grand old time.
