UPS Driver On Delivery Route Saves 2 Dogs From Drowning In Swimming Pool

Two Iowa dogs, Groot and Remy, have a UPS driver, Colin Mitchell, to thank for saving their lives. Mitchell spotted the dogs swimming alone in a pool while he was dropping off a package at the home of Jeff and Rebecca Marra.

Many drivers would have carried on with their business but not Mitchell. He wanted to be sure the dogs were fine, so he went to the house and knocked on the door to see if anyone was home. "I knocked a little louder, rang the doorbell… nothing. And then I just decided it was best to investigate," Mitchell said in an interview with WDSU News.
When Mitchell went to the pool area, he saw one dog clinging to the poolside while the other was barely floating with a solar cover. It was clear the dogs were in trouble and needed rescuing. So, Mitchell helped the dogs get out of the water before continuing his route. The next day, he came by to check on them.

The Marras were shocked and grateful when they learned about the incident. The family said the dogs would have been stuck in the pool for about three more hours if Mitchell hadn't intervened. It's unclear how things would have turned out if the dogs had stayed three more hours in the water. Thanks to Mitchell, they are doing alright.
