Dog owners have lots to learn from each other, but giving advice to other dog parents can be difficult. After all, you don’t want to offend them, but it’s important to get certain points across.
Here are some topics you may come across:
Indoor Versus Outdoor
Different dog Moms and Dads have different ideas about how long a dog can be left outdoors. In states that experience a lot of heat or a lot of cold, too-long exposure to the outdoors can be a problem.
Instead of telling dog parents about how they shouldn’t leave their dogs outdoors, talk about news stories involving dogs being harmed by the harsh weather. You can also mention other outdoor threats to dogs, like poisoned treats and toys.
Socialization
Sometimes, you may be able to tell that dogs are uncomfortable in a social situation when their parents haven’t noticed yet. This is a dangerous situation; in these situations, dogs could wind up being hurt when approaching the anxious dog, or the fearful dog could lash out at someone around them due to the stress.
Guests
Having guests over at home? Dog owners can believe that they know better than you what your dog is like and what their behavior means. It’s a good idea to set up rules for your guests to follow and firmly reiterate them whenever necessary.
