When Kristy Benjamin came across a video of a blind German shepherd spinning in circles, she knew the shelter wasn't right for him, and something had to be done about it. So, she and her husband drove over an hour to meet the dog.
When Kristy met the pup named Fox, he showed no interest in her. According to Kristy, Fox was much more interested in eating his toys. However, she found him interesting and decided to adopt him right away.
Although the couple knew Fox would require some time to adjust to their home, they didn't anticipate some of the challenges they were about to face. Fox would often spin in circles and was never relaxed enough to take a nap. So the couple had to endure sleepless nights, but it was worth it.
The couple created his room so he could have a safe space and slowly introduced him to the rest of the house. They also got him on medication to help his anxiety, and as soon as he started enjoying naps, their couch became his favourite sleeping spot.
Kristy says that Fox is very energetic. He loves water and enjoys meeting new people. She hopes more people would give special needs and senior dogs a chance and says they only need to put in extra work.
Fox's family love him the way he is. They have an Instagram page where they post all his adventures. Watching how he navigates life is beautiful.
