Do you recognize these food packets?
According to a lawsuit, they can KILL your dogs.
A class action lawsuit claims that “Purina Beneful Pet Food is killing dogs!” According to the lawsuit, the Beneful dog food includes two different toxic substances which are not only capable of killing dogs, but have succeeded in killing dogs. This class action lawsuit has been filed in California federal court by plaintiff Frank Lucido on the 5th of February. It has been reported that Beneful dog food is responsible for making dogs either seriously ill or causing them to die and Frank is dedicated to fight this case because he suspects that the cause of death of one of his dogs is the Beneful dog food.
What Happened?
Frank owned three dogs, a German shepherd, an English Bulldog and a Labrador. For the first time in December 2014 or early January this year, Frank bought a bag of Beneful dog food for his pets. Each of his pets ate Beneful exclusively.
The German Shepherd
Then on the 15th of January this year, his German shepherd began losing a large amount of hair and also gave off an unusual odor. Two days later, the German shepherd became seriously ill and when taken to the vet, it was reported that the dog suffered from internal bleeding in the stomach. Apart from that, Frank was told that his pet suffered from liver malfunction, a health problem that arises that is “consistent with poisoning.”
The English Bulldog
On the 23rd of January this year, Frank’s wife found their English bulldog dead in their yard. “Post-mortem veterinary examination revealed signs of internal bleeding in the dog’s stomach and lesions on his liver, much like
The Labrador
The Labrador is also ill and is being tested for similar problems. Because of the damage Nestle Purina’s Beneful has done to their dogs, Frank and his wife “have suffered economic losses including the purchase price of Beneful and veterinary and related medical expenses.“
The Beneful Class Action Lawsuit
Over 3,000 complaints have been posted online by dog owners who claim that Beneful is seriously harming their pet and even risking their pet’s lives. On the class action lawsuit it has been clearly mentioned that the posts are “about dogs becoming ill, in many cases very seriously ill, and/or dying after eating Beneful, and the dogs show consistent symptoms, including stomach and related internal bleeding, liver malfunction or failure, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, weight loss, seizures, bloating, and kidney failure.“
Beneful ingredients include propylene glycol, which is “an automotive component that is a known animal toxin and is poisonous to cats and dogs” and mycotoxins, which are “a group of toxins produced by fungus that occurs in grains, which are a principal ingredient in Beneful.”
