FDA Approves New Drug To Help Dogs Cope Up With Noise-Related Anxiety

If your pup has episodes of anxiety and is generally pretty easily spooked, then there’s some good news that could help ease this problem!

The FDA has announced a new drug called Sileo that has been approved and deemed safe and effective for reducing the effect of noise-related fears on pups. This is a common condition that unfortunately affects many pups. Some can ease the fears by cuddling with their parents, but some require more forms of comfort and even medication.

These noise-related fears are also the reason behind the worrying number of pups who are reported to have gone missing during New Years’ Eve, the Fourth of July, and other similar celebrations. The noise from the fireworks can be terrifying to pups. The same goes for thunderstorms, which can have the same effect.

In comparison to normal anxiety medication prescribed to pups, Sileo doesn’t have side effects like drowsiness and sedation. It isn’t in a tablet form either – it’s a gel that is meant to be rubbed onto the gums of a pup before an event that can induce anxiety occurs.

Each syringe of Sileo costs $25, with the dosage lasting for various time periods depending on the size of your pup. A vet can properly advise you regarding the best dosage for your pup.
